Economic Peace

Spirituality and Economic Peace: The One-Percent Solution

"If you desire peace, cultivate justice but at the same time cultivate the fields to produce more bread; otherwise there will be no peace." – Dr. Norman Borlaug, 1970 Nobel Peace Prize winner.

Spirituality is a tent pole in the lives of most people, yet it is the most underutilized resource in our shaken yet still powerful economy. We are immersed in an infinite pool of positive spiritual energy without ever thinking about accessing it in business – even as the structure of the economy around us seems to be falling apart

The 500 largest U.S. corporations achieved record revenues of $11 trillion in 2011, and total profits soared 80% over 2010 – with 14 million workers stuck in a stagnant job market. $11 trillion is 73% of the entire U.S. Gross Domestic Product of $15 trillion. In other words, just 500 corporations essentially control the U.S. economy.

Likewise, the European Union of 27 countries generated $18 trillion GDP out of a world total of $70 trillion, or 26% of the total world economy. Just 28 countries, including the U.S., and their largest corporations dominate nearly 50% of the global economy.

Clearly, corporations have an enormous economic resource that can contribute directly to improving the daily lives of people and our world. This extraordinary resource can improve our global humanity at all levels – creating Economic Peace with education, water, food, clothing, housing, health care, education, community and communications and ecology. Remember that one-half of the world’s population lives on less than $3 U.S. dollars per day.

If all corporations and businesses throughout the world were to contribute 1% of their annual profits directly to global humanitarian causes, this would provide hundreds of billions of needed dollars per year – without having to pass funds through inefficient governmental handling. This is Economic Peace, which leads to greater human peace at local, national, and global levels.

A living example of this action is Target Corporation, which for many years has been giving 5% of its operating profits to humanitarian causes. Target gains respect both for this work and for their ongoing financial growth and stability.

True giving at this level is a spiritually motivated social action. While this idea might shake the minds of some boards of directors, shareholders, owners, and other stakeholders in businesses around the world, the good done for those who vitally need this resource is immense. As we know from universal spiritual principles, multiplied returns are the gift to those who give freely – always.

We encourage all corporations and businesses to operate at a higher level of collective consciousness

and to give a small fraction of their monetary and other resources to support our bodies and souls for Economic Peace.

Economic Peace is a Lasting Peace.

The Nudge: Seven Spiritual Steps to Creativity in Work and Business

"I think creativity is spiritual. I absolutely believe that." – F. Murray Abraham, Best Actor Oscar award winner in the movie, "Amadeus"

Light bulb held up to the sunIn the world of work and business, creativity is a highly valued phenomenon in any career, job and work setting. It is so important that it raises key questions: Where does creativity come from and can it be learned and developed? Is it a natural gift for some and a learned skill for others? Is it a function of our brain or of our mind? How can we access and productively use it?

Aristotle and Plato argued that our brain is a physical thinking mechanism and that our mind is seated in our soul, our innermost being. Given that our soul is joined with the greater spiritual intelligence of Spirit (Universe, One Mind, Divine, God, and other names) suggests that we are connected with this Infinite Source of all creative ideas. Quantum physics offers that the resulting creative energy is flowing to us 10,000 times faster than the speed of light, or even zero time, in no time. Our brain is stimulated to recognize the idea at the speed of thought, or about 500 milliseconds - a literal split second, the aha moment, the creative nudge.

Is there way to be in this creative flow more often than the infrequent “out of the blue” spontaneous insights from Spirit? My own experience and that of many others is, “Yes.” There is a simple creative process that is always available in our careers, jobs and work (and other parts of our lives) to invite a nudge and bring it to life. We can choose at any time to use this integrated human-spiritual resource that has worked since the beginning of time.

Seven Spiritual Steps to Work and Business Creativity can be applied practically in any individual or appropriate group situation. The steps are easy to learn, remember and practice. The time we spend with each step is up to us - minutes, hours, days, weeks or longer depending upon our situation. We can repeat all or some of the steps in given cases. Our inner sense guides us about this.

  1. Light: In prayer and meditation we invite Spirit to illumine our minds and allow spontaneous creative ideas to emerge and be recognized in our thoughts. These are ideas that support the dreams and desires for our business and work - perhaps extraordinary ideas that are not based upon anything we have preconceived.
  2. Belief: We hold unshakable faith in these ideas, knowing they have good purpose, and trust that we are guided in moving forward with them.
  3. Imagination: We give shape to the ideas by visualizing material results, engaging our brains to add thoughts, words and actions and bring our images into reality. We see how those ideas will work in reality.
  4. Understanding: We accept these ideas as the inspiration of Spirit and we become willing to follow them in our work - individually and with others - to realize our dreams. We strive to understand what is coming to us through this process and we respect its appearance.
  5. Judgment: We spend time to discern between thoughts that might be spurred by our human ego drives rather than those ideas born purely out of spiritual insight - always choosing the spiritual. We make a conscious effort to avoid judging ideas while they are still growing and developing.
  6. Gratitude: We are grateful for the exciting new ideas born out of Spirit. We hold an attitude of caring about everything we think, do, and say. Other people appreciate these creative inspirations and support them.
  7. Rest: We let go of our work and rest a while to let the new idea gestate and percolate. Returning to our work, we trust Spirit for ongoing guidance that leads us to the right and perfect results.

Inviting a creative nudge works for products, services, processes, and situations. It is worth our time - and there is no charge for this work of Spirit!

Birthing 2012

Dear Friends,

We have created a compelling new Birth 2012 trailer for you!

It's only 3 minutes but it powerfully inspires people to get involved in the movement to create an historic Birth Day celebration on December 22 that will connect 100 million in the service of birthing a new era for humanity! I've even been told that many people have been brought to tears by it.

The Shift Network is launching this video as an Indiegogo campaign to fund the webcast and technology platform that will link the thousands of events we're anticipating worldwide.

So after you watch the Birth 2012 video at Indiegogo, we invite you to become a Supporter to forever have your name in lights as someone who co-created this amazing day.
We literally can't do this globally synchronized event without you. It's going to take tens of thousands of us coming together with a profound "yes," and offering what you can from $10 to $25,000 to help make this historic event a reality. Our goal is to raise $50K in the next 28 days with your help, but know that the more we raise, the better the production we can do.

Together, we can make something historic - a coming together of the forces for good on a planetary scale. I do believe that we have the actual opportunity and real possibility of joining forces to be a vital factor in the tipping point. The focused heart energy of this whole community of pioneering souls can actually constitute the essential "small fluctuations in the sea of social chaos," to help the system jump to a higher order of consciousness and capacity. Please help "kickstart" the process with your participation and support.
Stephen Dinan and team have arranged for some really powerful gifts for your consideration. The trailer and website is a great beginning for our campaign for Birth 2012. I'll be watching and doing my very best to support all of us in this Birthing process. Kindly forward this on to your friends so they too can be a part of this historic event.

I also have another exciting announcement to share with you. There's a new book just published that is essential reading for anyone who cares about humanity's future and our role in creating a better one. It's called EVOLUTIONARIES: Unlocking the Spiritual and Cultural Potential of Science's Greatest Idea. The author, Carter Phipps, is the former executive editor of EnlightenNext magazine and one of the world's foremost experts on evolutionary philosophy and spirituality. And he just informed me that he will be appearing on MSNBC's new TV show "The Cycle" at 3PM EST today. This is such exciting news for all of us who have been endeavoring to bring this subject into the mainstream media for so many years.

I'm honored to be featured in the pages of EVOLUTIONARIES, along with scientists, philosophers, cultural pioneers, and spiritual visionaries who are breaking new ground in humanity's understanding of who we are, how we got here, and where we're going.
I hope you'll tune into the show if you can and order a copy of this wonderful book.
EVOLUTIONARIES, is a brilliant, accessibly written, and eye-opening book in which I believe you will derive great value.

Social Entrepreneurs

“Social Entrepreneurs” are people who run businesses, or non-profits with a triple bottom line at the heart of their purpose. There are many definitions of Social world.” Entrepreneurship".

My simple definition is “Utilizing a business or non-profit enterprise to create positive change in the world. This isn’t just about “doing no harm”.  It’s about actually embracing the higher purpose of healing, transformation, and evolution for individuals and our world.

Many social enterprise organizations don’t even care about making a profit.  However, my opinion is that they should care, because when you make your business profitable it also becomes both sustainable and scalable… In other words, you remove the struggle and you make it possible for the organization to grow and have a much bigger positive impact.

So, my invitation to you is to embrace a triple bottom line in your business or organization.  Make it a conscious, deliberate, commitment and align everything in your business with your deepest values.

When you do this, you align yourself with the highest good of all beings, and the universe begins to conspire with you in ways that you can’t even predict.

Doors will open that were previously closed.

Supportive partners and collaborators will be attracted to you like never before.

Your “perfect fit” clients and customers will be a drawn to you.

Take a stand for the future of life on earth, and life itself will become your ally.

This is a game worth playing.

This is a game where everyone wins!

Writing a New Cultural Story

Getting back to Square ONE...Re-Claiming and Re-Creating our Planet, Cultures, Religions and Our very Being-ness.

Currently I am reading Neal Donald Walsch’s  Book “The Storm Before the Calm”

It is about writing a New Cultural Story for ourselves and the planet.  It is about the Overhaul of Humanity and It is occurring in every corner of our lives whether we like it or participate or not.

All one has to do is look around, listen and see what is happening every day. We all know that the energies are moving/changing faster and faster and that most of us are holding on and trying to maintain some sort of status quo…well, this is the year of profound change and we all have  heard of it in one way or another.   There is an old phrase…Love brings up everything unlike itself so that the love can heal it…and this is where we are right now…so many “issues” on the planet, in various countries/ governments… that are crying out for change…no matter where you are you cannot not be impacted.

Now what if you could have an impact and really help create and nurture this forward movement to re-claim and re-create our collective lives and our Mother Earth.     Would you commit to doing it??

Ever thought that someone? somewhere?  got it all wrong??   Ever wondered how your life would be if there had been loving understanding and acceptance of all you are and the gifts and talents you had to offer, that there was always a way to be fully who you are at each time in your life without the cultural, religious, financial “NO” .

Consider the above …and write the times in your life that would have been so different if only you had the freedoms that somehow from as long as we can remember / from the beginning of history, has been set up to control and deny us those innate rights and love.

We hear that we come from a loving universe and I do believe that…however as we go through the day I wonder who else has hear this…given what is happening around the world.

I offer here a brief summary of the 10 points to consider in creating a New World Story: As you read through this list observe your ”inside” reaction and what comes up for you…do you argue for the status quo, do you have a better answer? Are you fear-full?  Notice what your thoughts are and write them down and see how and where you are holding on to the old story and if that is truly still working for you.

Accepting, at last that WE are ALL an individuation of the Divine

Embracing the truth of the Oneness of all Life and of all Humanity

Understanding why we are here on this earth and the soul’s agenda

Ending abject poverty, death by starvation and the mass exploitation of people and resources on the earth by those in positions of economic and / or political power

Ending the systemic environmental destruction of the planet (because of denial and for economic gain)

Ending the domination of our various cultures by an economic system rooted in competition and the endless struggle for bigger/better/more.

Ending all discrimination and limitations that hold people, religions, housing, the workplace.

Providing at last an opportunity that is truly equal…for all people to rise to their highest expression of Self.

Welcoming the “social adjustments” that truly demonstrate who we really are as a species.
